I'm a friendly enough sort of chap ... I'm not a hostile person to meet. But I think it's important to realise that when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.
About this quote
- What does it mean?
- Equal intensity of opposing views does not mean the truth lies between them; one side can be entirely wrong.
- In plain terms
- Both sides being loud doesn't make both sides right.
- What can you take from it?
- Truth requires evidence, not just balance of opinions.
Where it applies
Putting it to work
Questions to consider
- Is balance always fair?
- How do you find truth?
Another view
Some truths do lie between extremes.
